Cookie Policy
Everything this site stores in your browser, why, and how to turn off what is optional.
Last updated September 25, 2026
1. What this covers
"Cookies" in the legal sense covers more than cookies: it is any storing of information on your device, including a browser's localStorage and sessionStorage. This policy lists all three, because all three are the same question — what is being kept on your machine, and why.
It applies to the EasyPeasyCV public site and to the account application.
2. What we do not do
There are no advertising cookies, no social plug-ins and no third-party trackers on any page. Nothing here follows you to another site, and no profile of your behaviour is built.
Where this site measures its audience, the measurement runs on a server we operate ourselves, counts aggregate page views rather than people, and stores no cookie or other persistent identifier on your device — which is why it has no row in the table below. Technical browser-error reports and aggregate clicks on public sign-in, registration and donation buttons are sent only if you agree to Statistics, and you can withdraw that choice at any time.
Where sign-in with Google is offered, its button is not a social plug-in either: it is an ordinary button on this site, no Google script runs on any page, and nothing about you reaches Google until you press it.
Everything listed below is set by this site itself. It falls into two groups: technical tools that make the service work, and the one optional preference, the interface language.
3. The three categories
Strictly necessary. Signing in, staying signed in, protecting the form you are filling in, remembering your cookie choice, and keeping the interface you requested consistent: the theme, the support button's corner, showing its message only once, and the last sign-in method. These cannot be switched off and are exempt from consent under the ePrivacy rules.
Preferences. Your interface language. It is optional: refuse it and the site uses your browser language on every visit.
Statistics. Anonymous, aggregate page measurement on the public site does not store an identifier on your device. Choosing this category additionally lets us receive technical browser-error reports and aggregate clicks on public sign-in, registration and donation buttons; it never records CV or account content.
4. The full list
Every value this site stores, what it is for, and how long it lasts.
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
epcv_consentStrictly necessary | Remembers the cookie choice you made here, so you are not asked again on every page. Also the record that the choice was made, and when. | Cookie | 180 days | This site |
better-auth.session_tokenStrictly necessary | Keeps you signed in between pages. Issued when you sign in and removed when you sign out. Over HTTPS the browser shows it as __Secure-better-auth.session_token. | Cookie | 7 days | This site |
better-auth.two_factorStrictly necessary | Written between your password and your code when an account uses two-step verification, and removed as soon as the code is accepted. It carries no session: until the code is right, nobody is signed in. | Cookie | 10 minutes | This site |
easypeasycv.pending-verificationStrictly necessary | Remembers which address a verification email was just sent to, so the page can tell you and offer to send it again. | Session storage | Until the tab is closed | This site |
easypeasycv.onboardingStrictly necessary | Holds the first-run form while you fill it in, so a reload does not lose what you typed. | Session storage | Until the tab is closed | This site |
easypeasycv-themeStrictly necessary | Remembers whether you chose the light or the dark interface. | Local storage | Until you clear it; for optional preferences, also until consent is withdrawn | This site |
better-auth.last_used_login_methodStrictly necessary | Remembers the sign-in method you used most recently, so the form can offer it first next time. It holds no account or address, only a method name. | Cookie | 30 days | This site |
easypeasycv:coffee-cornerStrictly necessary | Remembers which corner you parked the floating support button in. | Local storage | Until you clear it; for optional preferences, also until consent is withdrawn | This site |
easypeasycv:support-prompt-seenStrictly necessary | Records that the one-off support message has already been shown, so it is not shown again. | Local storage | Until you clear it; for optional preferences, also until consent is withdrawn | This site |
easypeasycv.localePreferences | Remembers the interface language you picked, so the next visit opens in it. | Local storage | Until you clear it; for optional preferences, also until consent is withdrawn | This site |
5. Changing your mind
Your choice is recorded for six months, after which you are asked again. You can change it whenever you like — withdrawing is exactly as easy as agreeing, and when you withdraw the preferences category, the language it stored is deleted from your browser straight away.
You can also clear or block storage in your browser's own settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop you from being able to sign in.
6. Links that leave this site
The donation link opens Buy Me a Coffee, which is a separate site with its own cookies and its own policy. No script from it runs here: until you click the link, nothing about you reaches it.
The same is true of the Google button on the sign-in page, where it is offered: pressing it takes you to Google's own page, which sets its own cookies under its own policy, and coming back from it signs you in here.
7. Changes
The table above is generated from the same list the application itself uses, so it cannot drift out of date while the code changes. If a new category is ever introduced, your stored choice is invalidated and the question is asked again.
